let it snow

Thank you for your good will messages, you are true bloggy friends indeed. We are starting to find our feet here in our new world, which is turning into rather a friendly place to be as it happens. The children survived the first week at school and seem to be adjusting to their new surroundings much quicker than expected. A new car has been bought (I'm guessing you can probably picture the main man's face when he got the keys for that toy) and then there was talk of where we should drive to this weekend.

There are constant reminders that the mountains are close by so we went up Grouse Mountain and got the children on to skis for the first time. They took to that well, too. Visibility wasn't too great to begin with but by early evening the views looking back over Vancouver were stunning. I can't get over what a beautiful part of the world this place is.

As for me? Well, I've noticed a smattering of grey hairs decorating my head that definitely weren't there two weeks ago. But never mind, I have discovered an excellent yarn shop and am knitting a hat!

  3. Wow great snow. I have a Canadian niece who lived here for a couple of years, she always laughed at our snow. I can see why. Vancouver is beautiful, enjoy these first days x

  6. Big sigh - it all looks so lovely.

    I think my only fear of moving abroad would be driving on the other side of the road, but my mister would be like your's with a huge grin - I'd let him do all the driving.

  10. Wow, so much snow! How fun for the kids to experience skiing. I have to admit that I am very unCanadian (is that a word???) in the fact that I have never skied or ice-skated, nor do I watch hockey. I guess I should follow suit, and get outside for some winter fun.
    Yes, I will start saving pennies for my Vancouver trip (my aunt and uncle live in Victoria). Only 59999 more pennies to go:)

  18. Such magical photographs Kate, my goodness what an incredible contrast to London. I'm really pleased your children are taking to it so well, amazing how resilient they are. I love the twinkly lights of that last photograph and want to dive through the computer to be there too :o) I too am pleased you have found the comfort of yarn in a foreign land, it immediately familiarises one with the place and like minded people xox Penelope
    ps. as for grey hairs, well I wouldn't have a clue as my bottle of red/auburn is always getting used. Ignorance is bliss in this case ! xxx

There's nothing like a comment to stop me feeling like I'm talking to myself. If you leave one here I'll pop one back here too, so don't forget to come back and continue the conversation ..
